We know that we’re currently experiencing very uncertain times. It’s all of our responsibility to help protect each other, from the spread of the virus by following official government advice. Particularly by avoiding all unnecessary contact and practising social distancing. But it’s important to maintain pest control during the coronavirus outbreak.

However, pest control is still needed and requires us to visit sites and deal with our clients face-to-face. In some situations, we will be around the most vulnerable to protect them from public health pests. We’re taking the necessary steps to ensure the safety of our staff and of those who we’re meeting with.

Pest control is an essential service that supports public health. We need to balance the risks of spreading the CONVID-19 virus against the risk of not providing a pest control service. We’ll handle this on a case-by-case basis.

During this time, we’re requesting payments via card, rather than cash.

Protecting you

We’ll ensure that our staff who are entering your home or premises are in good health to carry out pest control during the Coronavirus, they will arrive in protective clothing and throughout the visit, they will wear protective gloves.

Although we do follow very strict health and safety, we have asked them to follow this best practice:

  • Wash our hands with soap and water often – for at least 20 seconds.
  • Always wash our hands when we get home or into work.
  • Wash our hands before and after visiting a client’s site or home.
  • Use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
  • Cover our mouth and nose with a tissue or our sleeve (not our hands) when we cough or sneeze.
  • Put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash our hands afterwards.
  • Avoid close contact with unwell people.
  • Do not touch our eyes, nose or mouth with our hands.
  • Pay particular attention to situations where we are undertaking actions where items may have passed through many hands, eg cash handling.

Our team are practising social distancing and will be monitoring their health. If they have any concerns of risks to their health, or if they have come into contact with anyone who is potentially carrying the virus, they will be asked to go into isolation until further notice.

Protecting our staff

We ask that you ensure your premises is clean and if you’re are unsure if you’ve come into contact with anyone carrying the virus that you kindly contact us to allow us the time to take additional safety procedures.

The UK government is updating its advice regularly relating to COVID-19, including holding daily press conferences and we ask that you follow their guidance to reduce the risk of infection to our staff.

Pest control if you’re in isolation

We’re prepared to enter your premises during your isolation, please advise us ahead of your appointment to allow our team to be dressed appropriately, in Tyvek protective coveralls and wearing a face mask. We insist that a staff member does not enter a property where an individual or household is in isolation and there is a potential risk to them, without prior notice.

Managing your routine pest control contracts during the pandemic

We respect the decision of our clients to refuse access to a site to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. It is important to continue to manage your pest control to reduce the risk of damage to your stock and staff, not continuing to manage your pests could result in a bigger problem. If you decide not to accept your routine visit, we would advise that you cannot use professional product and that you do not touch any bait points in place. If glue boards are in use, these will need to be removed and any live capture traps will need to be deactivated. Please refer to your individual contract, as you may be liable to pay for the visit even if you choose not to allow us on-site.

If you have any concerns, please call Giles on 07970749482.
